Update from the 2018 General Assembly Session

During the 2018 General Assembly Session we have seen many of the same issues that we see on an annual basis.

This year is a little different because the margins are so tight in the House. But overall, we have had a successful year.

The issues that we have seen this year include mandated paid sick and family leave, minimum wage increase, product bans, tax issues, equal pay, cause of action for non-payment of wages, plastic bag tax or ban, and an increase in the felony threshold.

The Virginia Retail Federation is your voice on these issues during the General Assembly Session. We make sure that legislators are educated on how the many pieces of legislation introduced actually have an impact on the retail industry in Virginia.
