Chef Shelley grew up living in the Northend and spent childhood summers on her grandfather’s farm. Her passion for fresh produce and seafood was influenced by her extended family’s love of cooking and entertaining. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, in Hyde Park, NY, she worked in some of the area’s premiere restaurants alongside award winning Chefs as she perfected her skills.

In 2019 she fulfilled her dream of opening her own business. She chose the name, Graze Kitchen, as it evokes relaxed, leisurely dining…taking time to appreciate good food and the company of friends.

Graze Kitchen + Catering’s innovative menu features fresh delicious dishes that reflect the healthy lifestyle of the Northend. Using the best of each season’s bounty, Graze serves imaginative full-flavored dishes incorporating colorful fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and locally baked breads. The daily soup specials and delectable salad dressings are always house made. Beverage service includes craft beers and hard ciders, wine by the glass or bottle, and festive Mimosas.

Locally brewed kombuchas and alkaline waters are also available. Dine in one of two charming climate-controlled porches with stunning ocean views, or al fresco on the outdoor patio that flanks a meditative labyrinth.

The vibe at Graze Kitchen is as warm and friendly as the staff. Because of the openness of the kitchen, even the line chefs get to know repeat guests by name, remembering their culinary preferences. While it may sound cliché, guests truly feel like family and that relationship is Graze’s greatest business success. Quarantined in their homes, customers look forward to their dinner delivers. Friendly front porch chats with Graze staff nurtures connectedness. Some have offered cherished family recipes and, when possible, Chef Shelley will prepare the dish as a “Daily Special” for all guests to enjoy. At Graze Kitchen, customer service is as important as the food itself.

Chef Shelley’s first piece of advice to people interested in starting their own business is simple. Passion. Absolute and unrelenting passion for your vision. She also says you need: a solid business plan with realistic expectations but that is flexible enough to change to meet unexpected market conditions, an emergency slush fund (i.e. unexpected market conditions.), a loyal support system to keep you buoyed when your strength ebbs. And most importantly, a grateful heart for the customers who support your business.

Graze Kitchen partners with many local vendors, proprietors, farmers, and craftspeople for products/services/equipment used in the cafe. Graze Kitchen also supports several local non-profits and charitable causes.

Several plans are currently being developed to expand service. Follow us on social media for exciting new events at Graze Kitchen!
