For the past 5 years, this 100% all volunteer organization has given back to Hampton Roads families to help them get through difficult financial situations, so the families could focus on healing.
Jodi’s foundation’s mission is to provide a way to give back in the same way so many gave to Daniel and his family during his fight with cancer. Sweetwater Cuisine is the primary “sponsor” for Daniel’s Grace signature annual fundraising event, The Roast on the River. The funds raised go directly to support cancer families with daily living needs.
Jodi is also the co-founder of The Full Circle Project. Entering its second year, The Full Circle Project provides a one-year life skills platform for children from underserved areas.
Selected children spend one week at “summer camp” at Sweetwater Cuisine with the Full Circle team where they learn invaluable life skills such as basic cooking and hospitality skills.
The group meets monthly for field trips, that include specialized guest speakers and guests who teach the children additional life skills such as financial management, housing, first aid, nutrition, to name a few. “The key is to expose our youth to a world they would otherwise not see,” states Full Circle founder and Sweetwater Cuisine Chef AJ Hyman.
Jodi recently opened Sweet Magnolias at Sweetwater Cuisine. There she has opened the venue space to local non-profits twice a month to book the space to fundraise and Sweetwater Cuisine receives no profit.
The Sweetwater staff overlaps into all three non-profit areas and we have created a sense of community working tirelessly giving back. The Sweetwater staff’s mission includes participation with our two non-profits. To their company, community impacts looks like so many things but mostly it’s about making the community a better place by changing lives and leaving a legacy that others may shape their giving in the future. v
