Home to the world’s largest naval base, Norfolk has become home for many who served in the military. You will find that veteran-owned businesses are scattered throughout Norfolk and throughout the Hampton Roads region. Each has its own unique story on why they decided to permanently plant roots here by starting a business and we’re proud to support and guide their efforts.

This week is National Veterans Small Business Week (NVSBW). Now in its eighth year, NVSBW raises awareness of veteran small business ownership and encourages communities to support their veteran- and military-owned businesses. The U.S. Small Business Administration celebrates, connects, and empowers service members (including National Guard and Reserve), veteran, and military spouse entrepreneurs and business owners – past, present, and future.

According to the SBA there are nearly “1.8 million veteran entrepreneurs” nationwide and they generate approximately “$1 trillion annually and employ nearly 4 million people”.

Enjoy this roundup of retailers, restaurants, and other small businesses where you can personally support and thank a veteran this Veteran’s Day!
