We provide many benefits to our members through education, advocacy, and products & services.

  • Advocacy
    The Virginia Retail Federation is a statewide organization advocating on behalf of retailers at the Federal, State, and local levels. Our vision is to build a collective voice of, and for, Virginia retailers.
  • Advertising Co-Ops
    Retail Alliance, through its purchasing power, is able to buy bulk advertising space and time in area media and then make it available to Retail Alliance members. Co-operative advertising is either available on an ad hoc basis when there is enough interest from members, or may also be offered on a defined basis during the year, usually around a holiday period.
  • Ambassador Program
    During the 45- or 60-day legislative session, there are times that we call upon our members to testify at the General Assembly on a particular issue that is of particular relevance to them. If you are interested in being part of the grassroots lobbying efforts of the Virginia Retail Federation, join us as an Ambassador.
  • Entertainment
    Movie Tickets. Retail Alliance has contracted with local cinemas to provide our members with discounted movie tickets. These tickets are great for rewarding your employees or as gifts to your customers and they are very inexpensive. We keep a supply on hand, but if you want to buy 25 or more please give us a call a week ahead to give us a chance to order more if needed.
    Events Tickets. As part of our program and community support, Retail Alliance reserves tickets to a variety of local events, such as Admirals Hockey, Tides Baseball, ODU Basketball, and Peninsula Pilots. These tickets are available on a first-come/first-served basis to our members. If you are interested in purchasing tickets or taking advantage of free tickets, contact your Member Director. Supplies are limited so be sure to take advantage of these exclusive prices.
  • Member Spotlights
    Members can receive a spotlight article in our print newsletter, Retail Angles. This is a full page interview style article focused on you and your story. These are based on first in-first published.
  • Mystery Shopping
    Your employees and their interaction with your customers are as important as the quality of your inventory. Poor customer service, lack of attention to detail or sloppy work can not only cost your business a sale, but also tarnish your business’ reputation. Your business may operate to your standards while you are in the store, but what happens when you are not there? Retail Alliance offers a Mystery Shopping service for members. Business owners interested in gaining an objective snapshot of how their store appears to potential customers may receive one free mystery shop per quarter.
  • Retail Crime Alert LLC
    http://www.retailcrimealert.com/ Partnership with local police departments to keep businesses abreast of crime situations through free alerts.
  • Retail Angles Newsletter
    A quarterly print newsletter provided free to members with news, events, member spotlights and retail industry articles.
  • Retail Pulse
    The Retail Pulse is a retail sales survey conducted with retailers of all sizes and across various industries throughout Greater Hampton Roads. The aim of the survey is to take a reading of the market on a regular basis throughout the year and in particular after major sales periods such as Thanksgiving, Back to School, Mother’s Day, Labor Day, etc. Participants do not have to be members of Retail Alliance. Participants of the survey will be given exclusive full results of the survey to see how the local retail industry is performing and also see how they are performing against other retailers in the same category. Topline results are provided to the media, with the possibility of media exposure for the retailer and follow-up commentary. We also publish topline results in our online and print newsletters.
  • Speakers Bureau
    A compiled list of recommended speakers available to members who need a speaker recommendation for signature events, roundtable meetings, training seminars and workshops. Designed to identify, rate and track speakers on a specific topic.
  • STRIVE Workshops
    Wherever you are, be it in the office, store or out on the road, you can tune into our monthly lunch and learn workshops that focus on topics that relate to the retail industry.
  • Veterans ID Card Program
    Creates a unique opportunity for retailers to reach our local veterans through discounts and special offers.
