Retail Alliance Holds 1st Shop and Shuttle for Military Spouses - Connecting milspouses to local retail community in Hampton Roads 

September 27, 2024, Norfolk, Va. – Retail Alliance and Hampton Roads Workforce Council Veteran Employment Centers successfully hosted their first Shop and Shuttle event on Friday, September 27, 2024 at The Shops at Hilltop, Virginia Beach. This exclusive shopping spree was designed especially for military spouses in Hampton Roads to celebrate and recognize them as the backbone of our military families, in addition to introducing them to the local retail community.

This event was organized as part of a larger “Salute to Military Spouses” event organized jointly between Retail Alliance, Hampton Roads Workforce Council Veteran Employment Centers, and the Navy League. This shopping event was sponsored by TowneBank with generous support from the retailers in The Shops at Hilltop who provided discounts to guests and donations for a raffle (California Closets, Adele Diamond, The Fresh Market, Gerald’s Ice Cream & Pastry, Sole Provisions, The Parlor Room, AT&T, Airotciv by Victoria Jewelry, Monkees of Virginia Beach).

“We understand the sacrifices our military spouses make, and we wanted to offer a special day to enjoy the unique retail experience that Hampton Roads has to offer. Our goal at the end of the day was to make sure they all felt welcomed to Hampton Roads, they know where to go and who to reach out to for anything their family needs, and hopefully consider living here long after their military career is over,” commented Jenny Crittenden, President/CEO of Retail Alliance.

The event kicked off at 9:15 A.M. at The HIVE in Virginia Beach Town Center with networking, coffee, and light food options, followed at 10:00 A.M. by a complimentary bus ride directly to The Shops at Hilltop, where an array of diverse shops and small businesses awaited. A $20 gift voucher was given to each guest, donated by Retail Alliance, to shop at any of the stores within The Shops at Hilltop. At 1:00 P.M. the bus returned to The HIVE.
